The Lament of Too Late [poem]
Got a bone in my throat And a coin in my pocket So many maybes turned into nevers Too many good-byes and not enough tomorrows And all this broken glass swept under the rug And all these ashes left beneath my feet Got my zipper caught on the teeth of your retreat And I'm left treading water But I don't know how to swim When will I learn that indecision leads to decisions I'd rather not make When will I learn to seize the golden thread of possibility And never let go.
