Safety in Silence
There is safety in silence. I enjoy silence. I don't enjoy it because I despise conversation, or I dislike people. Silence protects me from myself. It rescues me from what I say. When I speak, careless words slip from my tongue, injuring ones I love and ones I do not yet know, ones I will never know. The words ruin the "first impression". So instead, my "first impression" is of a timid mouse, afraid to utter a sentence. Sometimes I hate what I have become, hiding my true self to appease others. But sometimes it is better to just shut my mouth, to withdraw the dangerous orations before they destroy me.
