Poison On Your Lips

Author: Ariah Oak

As the sun sets into the hill’s embrace I cruise along with no hopes to chase and of all the things you said before why’s it this that kicks me out the door? Just shrug it off you’d say, since no one’s ever coming to take you away I keep my sight set on the horizon ahead and press my foot to the floor since I feel so misled I keep blindly driving on so nothing will ever remind me of that poison on your lips And everything else that I won’t miss I may have had too much to drink when you decided you wouldn’t speak and now I’m at it again just to get you out of my head Now there’s no turning back and the roads are getting so thin I promised I wasn’t able to be brave but you said I just can’t be afraid Even though the years have gone and all I’ve done is stay on the run Your wily ways have kept me caged but we both know I could have never stayed I’m miles from home and out of my head If you’re not careful you’ll end up dead I’ll save you the trouble for what’s in store but I’ll leave the noose on your front door
