Fade

Author: J. A. Keane

It started slowly. It'll end likewise.

I think it likes it that way.

My right hand keeps catching my eye as I write this. Stupid.

When did it begin? I'm not quite sure. We'll say days. It'll do.

Days ago, I woke up. Sun splitting the curtains. Dust floating, glowing in the light. Builders outside. Cat at my feet.

Normal day.

Abnormal see-through chest.

That is what I saw when I looked down.

Skin still there, blood still in me. But I could see into my chest. Muscles. Veins. Hint of ridcage.

First reaction: X-ray vision. (Superman fan.)

Second reaction: vomit. Copiously.

(Incidentally: not X-ray vision. Tried seeing my neighbour Karen naked. No dice.)

Since then, the fading has spread. In size. In depth.

My torso no longer exists, though I still eat (?) and breath.

My shoulders are gobe, thoigh arns still; attacged to me.

Legs incisible dpwn to my knees.

Genitals...yo know.

It's up my neck.

Shoting through ny right gand.

HAND.
