Gus n' Bone

Author: neil kant

"Long time no see, chub-zilla." "That's magical Bone, thanks for that,"Gus replied dryly. "Same ol' prude, I've got plenty more-" "Yeah, I'm good." "-fatzilla."

Gus gaped up at Bone from the bench outside Westing High's entrance. Whereas Gus hadn't grown an inch, Bone was now half a foot taller than last year - he towered over most of the kids streaming into the school.

"You know Bone, I was thinking." "Oh yeah?" Gus took a breath of the crisp September air - it felt like a new beginning. "We have a fresh start this year. Are we really gonna dick around high school the same as middle school?" "Middle school killed, Gus. We caused mondo troubles for all. I knew you'd turn soft this summer."

The tragedy was that Gus had every intention to follow through and actually _do_ something at high school. But as he stared into Bone's flat, expectant face, something wiped it all away.

Gus lept and wrestled Bone into a figure four leg lock right on the cement. Red-faced and locked between Gus' legs, Bone smiled.
