Saint Peter

"Hm, an incredible piece." "Yes, yes, the One above put in quite the effort." "I wonder what it will go for?" "I'd be willing to spend *years* for this work of art."

_"Excuse me, everyone, we are ready to begin"_

The room silenced, the inhabitants eager to place their bids.

_"The bidding will start at 5 years. Do I hear 8?"_

The room exploded with shouts from all corners, numbers reached the high fifties, sixties.

_"66 years? How about 67 years? Can I get 67?_

The bids slowed, the creatures hesitant to lose their cool.

_"67 years for this magnificent, wonderful soul. Surely, you can oblige?"_

A voice shouted from the back "67!"

_"67 years! Can I hear 68? Anybody?"_

The room was still.

_"Going once! Twice! Sold to the gentlemen in the back! 67 years as a saint in exchange for the soul of Mark Twain!"_

The demons around him congratulated him for his significant purchase.

God, standing at the MC stand, smiled.
