A Friend

I always wanted to find words to say how much you changed my life. If you hadn't been a part of my life, I might not still be here.

My first true friend, someone I could turn to no matter what I needed. No matter what my problem was, parents, sister, even my own thoughts. All the years I thought I was a disappointment to the people who cared about me, you made that feeling disappear. By being a true friend, supporting me, caring about me and letting me know you cared. You helped me become the person I am now.

For those things, I will always love you and you will always have a special place in my heart. I wish you didn't.

I love you. More than you will admit now. We couldn't make each other happy, I don't really blame you for walking away, but it hurt. My heart was broken. You almost ruined the man you had helped me become, in just a few words that I still feel today.

You challenged me. To change who I was for the better and then to keep going without you.

You made me who I am.
