Chamber

Author: Abstract

As we made progress through the tunnel, we could just barely make out the faint clatter and thud of the sewer door closing. We came out the pipe when it emerged into a small depository designed for waste trolleys to dump their contents in. Metal footholds jutted from the wall at intervals on the far side, forming a ladder to the chamber's lid.

"This place _reeks!"_ complained one of Hard Drive's lackeys. "It's disgusting!"

"It's a sewer outlet," another replied. "What'd you expect?"

Beghilos and Acrylic emerged last, shoving out the duffel bags filled to the brim with weaponry. Fetus bolted up the ladder and made passes at the entry port with her fingers.

"What's she doing?" Virus asked.

Fetus replied, "There are magnets in my fingertips. I can detect EM fields with them. If there's a detection grid, I'll know."

I made to draw a weapon just in case when I felt Daemon's arm on my shoulder. "C:\ wanted you to have this," he explained.

It was a state-of-the-art sabertaser.

"Congratulations," he grinned.
