The Proposal

Author: Minion

"I swear," Harper said. She gasped for a breath. "I didn't do it." "Liar," Kate spat, slamming her hands on the table. Harper didn't reply. She wiped her tears as best she could with the sleeve of her t-shirt and looked at her sister with a smile. "Hypothetically," Harper said slowly. "Hypothetically," she repeated, almost swallowing the mic. "Let's say I killed them." She stared directly at the one-way mirror, directly at the Detective on the other side. "I'm not saying I did." Kate crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair. "Ok." This time Harper leaned across the metal table, her hands cradling her face. Kate looked away for a moment. "I have a proposal for you," Harper said, shaking her head side-to-side as if listening to a pop song. Kate turned her head to look at her sister. "I'm listening." "If you're able to explain exactly _how_ you think I 'killed' five people in five days," Harper began. "Then what?" "Well then, I'll confess," Harper said, smiling.
