Sunday Morning Break Up

Author: JC Tovil

“I think we should break up.” She looked at him, not sure if she had heard him correctly. “What did you say?” “You heard me.” He said, turning to look her in the eyes. “I think we should see other people.” She studied his face. “Are you serious?” He took a deep breath. “Please, don’t make this more difficult than it needs to be. It’s simple. We're just done. It's over.” She sat there unblinking for a minute, wondering if it was really happening or maybe it was some sort of dream. “Look, you’re great, really. It’s me. I just can’t do this anymore.” She looked at him. “Really?” He threw his hands into the air, frustrated. “Yes, really. I’m done. This, us, we're over. I don't know what else to say. I'm really sorry. Have a good life.” And with that he stood and walked out the door. She sat processing everything that had just happened and with shaky hands she picked up her cell and began to dial. “It's over. We're done." She happily whispered into the phone. "Come over right away. I miss you so much, sweetie."
