A Park in October
Few leaves still clung to the trees of Olde Brook Park. A squirrel darting from one branch to the next distracted a young lady from her afternoon read and the attention of a lad listening to his iphone 3g. Their eyes met.
_"Hello, I'm friendly and really like alternative music,"_ his grey cardigan shouted to her from across the park. _"I also dedicate a portion, but not too much, of my income to the clothes I buy and I how I present myself, "_ added his converse shoes.
_"Hi,"_ responded her turtleneck, _"I'm beginning to feel the cold of winter, or maybe I could just be a stuck-up bitch."_ She slid a finger between the lip of her shirt and her neck, casually pulling the fabric away from her skin as if to tell him: _"I'm a lot more interesting than the clothes I wear. Come talk to me."_
He crumpled the browning grass beneath his shoes as he walked.
"Hi." He said. "Hi." She said.
