Merchant's Place

Author: J. Rein B.

Around him merchants and peddlers ran, advertising their varied goods, from fished fillets to pirated Papers to kisses from the Moon. He saw shadows reaching out to grab things that have fallen from Men’s haste. He saw rogue fires transacting behind a storyteller puppet. He saw vines crawling up and down the immaculate walls, stealing food and water from those that came within range.

It was all so _chaotic_.

He walked aimlessly for a while, dazzled by the dancing flames and singing kettles and other flashy things the merchants presented. Some were Papered, and some were alive (though he could never really distinguish between the two.)

Time quickly passed, however, and he realized he must soon attend to matters; his shadow was growing long again. He walked on as the wondrous things still presented themselves to him, things beyond his wildest dreams. Offhandedly, he realized why few souls return from this city.
