Love and El Dorado
"Well?" He watched me expectantly, dark eyes wide with excitement. "What d'ya think, Q? Awesome, right?"
I squinted down at the table. "It's, uh..." _It's hurting my eyes_, I wanted to say. "It's very... yellow."
"_Gold_, man!" He grinned down at the garish creation with almost fatherly affection; scary, on him. The sheet he'd covered it with was shedding glitter all over the basement floor. "It's _El Dorado_, y'know? Like from that movie?"
"Uh huh." I knew getting cable was a bad idea. "And what are you going to do with it, now that you've ruined the pool table?"
"It's all part of my plan to get her back, man!"
I blinked. "Wait. Your plan _starts_ by building the lost city of El Dorado?" I eyed the city again. Tiny black figures were climbing the glittering step pyramid with great reverence. _Oh,_ damn it, _Tez!_
His smile, if possible, grew even wider. "Oh, no,'" he said, as a great cheer rose from the city and a black speck tumbled down the pyramid to the crowd below. "This is only the model."
